New construction

Project description

Construction of a new building that includes two underground parking floors, 19 floors of office spaces, meeting and service rooms, a large multimedia conference room, etc. The project also consisted in upgrading the existing building, repairing controls, and various retrofits.

Challenges and Solutions

  • Building a new tower and working in the existing building without interrupting tenants’ operations.
  • Ventilation, air conditioning, and heating systems designed to optimize energy efficiency while conserving simple operation.
  • Heating energy is supplied for the most part by energy recovered, thanks to an installation from the existing building’s plant.
  • Optimizing systems, performed in conjunction with the client, in order to meet aggressive budgets established by the head of the project.
  • Exterior lighting designed to enhance the new building in a city that is already saturated with light, but also while ensuring the integration into the existing building.
  • Optimizing energy efficiency and recovery of existing systems in the neighbouring tower.
  • No boiler room was necessary in the new building. The heating energy is supplied from the energy recovered from the existing building’s plant. Furthermore, the new domestic water and fire protection networks were integrated into the existing building.
