Major renovation by phases

Project description

Major renovation of a psychiatric research building including laboratories and an animal facility. The building, built in the ‘60s, is located on a heritage site and housed obsolete laboratories and HVAC systems at the end of their useful life. PAGEAU MOREL carried out the design and site supervision by phases without interrupting building activities and minimizing disruptions to users.

Challenges and Solutions

  • Work done on a heritage site and building that contained a large amount of asbestos.
  • Narrow and small mechanical room for the needs of the building.
  • Replacing laboratory ventilation systems.
  • New deionized water system and network for laboratories.
  • Renovating laboratory hood evacuation systems.
  • New warm water network for safety showers.
  • New 4°C cold room and gas networks for labs.
  • New electrical supply with pad-mounted transformer and emergency power supply.
