Fit-up of offices and laboratories (by phases)

Project description

PAGEAU MOREL carried out mechanical and electrical engineering projects included in Héma-Québec’s master development plan at their Saint-Laurent location. The projects included the expansion and retrofit of laboratories, office spaces and services. LEED-CI Gold certification was given in August 2012 for these changes.

Challenges and Solutions

  • Construction work in strict phases in order to maintain activities at Héma-Québec in areas adjacent to the works.
  • Maintaining HVAC systems functional by combining the client’s regular activities with those of the construction by reducing inconveniences as much as possible (noise, dust, etc.).
  • Combining commissioning activities and laboratory validation.
  • Retrofit of certain laboratory areas and integration of new transformation technologies.
  • Expansion by the creation of a mezzanine in a warehouse area.
  • Relocation and retrofit of workshops for the exhaust air with reverse-flow cassettes (minimal efficiency of 85 %) in order to preheat, prehumidify, and précool the fresh air supply.
