New construction in fast-track mode

Project description

Construction of a building used for preclinical research in the new bio-medical park in Sherbrooke and located near the CHUS. This first two-storey building will house an animal supply facility consisting of 29 housing rooms and analytical laboratories where multiple species can be housed for long-term studies. The second floor will be home to the analytical chemistry, pre-clinical analysis, pharmaceutical, histology and pathology laboratories (BSL-2).

Challenges and Solutions

  • Facilities designed in compliance with CCAC requirements, as well as Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs) (FDA, Good Laboratory Practice, 21 CFR Part 58).
  • Large flexibility was incorporated into the design of installations and of the regulation system in order to accept successively different animal species in the same vivarium.
  • Installations designed to permit future conversions of many sectors of the building for different uses than its original one.
  • Commissioning and the client’s specific qualification trial methods meant a meticulous incorporation into specifications for all disciplines in order to guarantee coordinated execution and compliance with regulatory requirements.
